10 Actors Who Could Play Green Arrow in the DCU

While we might want Stephen Amell to be the character still in the DCU, they’ve already expressed that they want to keep their TV and movie properties separate, and have done well so far by recasting most of the important TV characters. It would be great to see how a big star handles the role anyway, and I’m excited to compare the movie performance with that of the TV character! So without further ado, here are the 10 Actors Who Could Play Green Arrow in the DCU.

1. Charlie Hunnam

Whenever some one is casting Green Arrow, Hunnam always tops the list. He’s just the perfect choice! He has the look down to a tee, he’s played the tough action hero type, and he’s played charming hot-shot characters as well. If Hunnam were given the role, then everyone would be happy.

2. Matt Damon

If you’ve never thought of Matt Damon to play a character like Green Arrow, go watch The Martian. I’ll wait. Done yet? Am I right? Damon playing the type of character that Mark Watney is and having a beard gives him the exact credentials for this character. Need I say more?

3. Leonardo DiCaprio

Despite never winning an Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio is highly regarded as one of the best actors of our time, and he’s played a range of characters that would come in handy for the role of Green Arrow. The rich playboy aspect? Watch The Wolf of Wall Street and The Great Gatsby. The action badass? Watch The Departed. DiCaprio has proved in his previous roles that he has what it takes for a character like this, and could easily do this role justice.

4. Aaron Paul

While he may be lacking the blonde hair, Aaron Paul nails the look of Green Arrow in every other aspect, and would play the character very well. He’s not the most fit actor in Hollywood, but I believe that if Paul was given the chance to bulk up, he could be an amazing Green Arrow. He plays charming and sarcastic well, and acting the character would honestly be no problem for this man. If he were to just get in the kind of shape Stephen Amell is in, then he would be the best version we’ve ever seen of the character.

5. Ryan Gosling

Despite my personal dislike for this man as an actor, I cannot deny in any way that he would make a good Green Arrow. He has everything down, starting with the classic look, and the charming playboy feel as well. While I can’t say much about him as an action star, he certainly fills the part well, and could very easily make a new name for himself.

6. Daniel Craig

What? James Bond as Green Arrow? You read right, Craig has the classic look of the character as well as all of the personality traits. I mean, James Bond is basically the British Oliver Queen if you think about it. Womanizing, charming, suave, rich, and somewhat cocky all go along with each character. If you gave this man a bow and arrow instead of a gun, there’s no way he could give a bad performance.

7. Dan Stevens

You’re probably tired of me going on about the classic look of the character, but let me tell you, Dan Stevens definitely has that. If he were to bulk up for the role, then he would have everything required for the character. While he’s better in roles that are completely serious, I think that he could tackle the easy-going and sarcastic ways of this character perfectly if given the chance.

8. Jake McDorman

While Jake McDorman may pale in comparison to all of the other big names on this list, I’m certain that he has exactly what this role needs. He looks like the character, obviously, he’s in great shape already, and his personality traits line up perfectly with that of Oliver Queen’s. Seriously, have you watched Limitless yet? He’s charming, sarcastic, straight up hilarious, and badass all at the same time. What does he not have for this role?

9. Mike Vogel

While Mike Vogel usually plays sober and serious characters, I believe that he could very easily bring his own rendition of the character to the screen. We’re no strangers to seeing a completely serious Green Arrow, and while I never quite liked it, I know it was refreshing for some to see. Vogel has the look and the build for the character, however, and I think that alone could justify him in the role.

10. Brad Pitt

You might not have ever thought of Brad Pitt to play the Emerald Archer, but the truth is that he has the classic look and personality for the role. Even at 50 years old, he’s in the right shape for it, and would fit in with the older characters of the DCEU.

Who do you think should play Green Arrow? Let me know in the comments!
