5 Actresses Who Could Star in DC Universe’s Batgirl Series

Only a few days ago, it was revealed that DC’s online streaming service DC Universe is going to be producing its own live-action Batgirl series, and fans are already overwhelmed by the news. This is sure to draw in many more viewers for the independent subscription, yet at the same time they still need the right actress to cast in the title role. I have a few young women picked out who I think would be excellent in the role, and I hope you agree.

1. Natalia DyerImage result for natalia dyer

Natalia Dyer is widely known for her role as Nancy Wheeler in Stranger Things, a show that is not only critically acclaimed, but also shows her prowess as an actress. I have always considered Dyer a solid choice to play Batgirl, yet she seems to always be overlooked for some reason. She may not have the exact look or hair color for the character, but I feel that her acting talent would make up for that, and I would love to see her get her own show so early in her career.

2. Bella ThorneImage result for bella thorne

Bella Thorne is a more popular choice for Batgirl, and that is solely because of her looks. Thorne has the exact face and figure you could hope for from a beautiful crime fighter, but I just don’t know if she brings anything else to the table. She is a bit of a one-dimensional actress, but her casting would certainly please the fans, and I would be willing to give her a chance in the role before I pass any judgement.

3. Jane LevyImage result for jane levy

When it comes to the role of Batgirl, Jane Levy is the complete package. She’s young, beautiful, has natural red hair and has had plenty experience in action heavy roles. Levy is an obvious pick for the female caped crusader, and I hope that the casting directors at DC Universe see that as well.

4. Rose LeslieImage result for rose leslie

Rose Leslie is a bit of an older choice for the role, but I still think it could work. None of the shows on the DC Universe streaming service are going to be connected to each other or anything else, so that grants a wide array of freedom to do whatever they want with their characters. Having a more mature, adult Batgirl could be something that we’ve never seen before on-screen, and putting a spin on the show may actually grant it more viewers. Leslie is obviously an extremely seasoned and talented actress, and casting her in the role of Batgirl is simply a no-brainer.

5. Emma RobertsImage result for emma roberts

Emma Roberts is more of an A-list star to suggest for the role of Batgirl, and it might make more sense for her to star in a movie based on the character. However, if she could be convinced to portray Barbara Gordon in a TV series instead, she would be perfect for the character. She ticks all of the boxes when it comes to both appearance and acting prowess, so if she can be persuaded to take the role, she would give the fans the exact replica of Batgirl that they crave.

What do you think? Who should play Batgirl? Let me know in the comments!
