5 Actresses Who Could Star in DC Universe’s Stargirl Series

News broke at SDCC this year that a Stargirl series is being planned for the DC Universe streaming service, and the reactions to the idea have been fairly positive. While she’s not the most popular character in DC Comics lore, she’s getting her own show all the same, and it’s important to give lower level superheroes equal media representation. It takes a special young actress to star in her own superhero drama, and I think I have a few accurate suggestions for the role.

1. Olivia HoltImage result for olivia holt

Olivia Holt has made a name for herself by starring in Marvel’s teenage superhero drama Cloak & Dagger, so it might not make a lot of sense to suggest that she switches teams to star in a similar show. However, I honestly don’t think that Cloak & Dagger will be renewed for a second season, so now might be the perfect time to try to sign her on as Stargirl. Holt bears a resemblance to the character, and being such a gifted young talent, I have no doubt in my mind that she can get the role if she throws her hat in the ring.

2. Dove CameronImage result for dove cameron

Dove Cameron is mainly known as a Disney channel star, but she recently made an appearance on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as one of this season’s big bads. While Stargirl is far from a villain, Cameron still had to show moments of vulnerability and innocence in her villain role, and that could come in handy when playing a teenage superhero. She has the ability to embody the look of the character, and with her acting resume so far, I believe that she could be an early favorite for the role.

3. Natalie Alyn LindImage result for natalie alyn lind

Natalie Alyn Lind currently stars in the hit show The Gifted, and while it’s likely for her to be on that program for the foreseeable future, I can’t overlook the fact that she would make an excellent Stargirl. Lind has the natural look for the character, and the fact that she is actually high school age works in her favor. She is obviously a talented and experienced actress, and if she can fit it into her schedule, I think that playing a DC superhero could do wonders for her career.

4. Willow ShieldsImage result for willow shields

Willow Shields reached a moderate level of fame by playing Primrose Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies, and while she wasn’t the star of the films by any means, they still gave her experience in a high stakes role. She hasn’t been the sole star of a project just yet, but I feel like this could be the perfect opportunity for her to rise to the occasion, and she has potential to be somewhat of an action star. I think she has the right look and age for the character, and if given the opportunity, I know a lot of people would be excited to see how well she does as the star of her own show.

5. Izabela VidovicImage result for izabela vidovic

Izabela Vidovic had a recurring role on the latest season of iZombie, and I was truly impressed by how good of an actress she already is. Vidovic has only had a few bit roles here and there, but she has performed well in everything I’ve ever seen her in, and I think she just might be ready for a starring role. While she doesn’t look exactly like the character, she looks most like an actual high school girl out of everyone on this list, and I think that her raw talent could possibly land her on the show.

What do you think? Who should play Stargirl? Let me know in the comments!
