Director Zack Snyder has released the official poster for the film Army of Thieves, which is a direct prequel to his hit film Army of the Dead which was released on Netflix and garnered over 75m views! while Army of the Dead was a bloody horror-comedy about a group of mercenaries who had to break into a virus-riddled Las Vegas, Army of Thieves will be frontline by the quirky German safecracker, Ludwig Dieter, who was played by Matthias Schweighöfer. The poster in question has a cool retro feel to it, that gives off James Bond vibes, and the plot summary below also seems to indicate that it will be a throwback action adventure film.
Not a lot is known about the film’s plot, other than it will be a story told before the Zombie outbreak.
The official plot for Army of Thieves reads: “In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.”
Now from that plot, it does not sound like we will be getting a lot of zombie action in this film, and instead, it will be zeroing in on the heist genre and will follow Dieter on an adventure across Europe, that being said I am sure we will be getting some juicy easter eggs to Army of the Dead.
The exact release date for the Army of Thieves is unknown, but it is expected to drop at some point in the fall of 2021.
