German artist Tim Bengel has found a way to create awesome works of art from sand. These are not the sandcastles you are used to seeing at the beach, but intricate works of art. Tim creates his art by covering a canvas with special adhesive. He then precisely places each grain of sand on the canvas with a special tool.
The design for the artwork is carefully created with black or gold sand. After the design is complete, the empty spaces are filled with white sand. Once the weeks-long process is complete, the excess sand is shaken off to reveal the masterpiece beneath.
Tim completes each piece of art in roughly one month. His attention to detail and incredible patience help him create powerful and moving art. His greatest work to date is a rendition of the Palace of Versailles that took roughly 300 hours to finish! With this dedication to his craft, Tim will likely have a bright future as an artist.
The most remarkable part of the story is that Tim is completely self taught. He learned to create these sand paintings through countless hours of experimentation. Perfection was achieved through trial and error. Creating your own form of art is certainly not easy, but he was dedicated to creating art that was unique and make him stand out from other artists.
There was a lot of experimentation and failure that went into his early work. But the results are truly inspiring. At the young age of 24 Tim Bengel has begun to get the attention of art fans from around the world. Will we see this new style of art take off and become popular? Only time will tell, but it is definitely exciting to the sand art take shape.
