Authorpalooza: Kevin J Anderson Comes to Houston

The Houston Writers Guild will be hosting award-winning author Kevin J
Anderson as part of their annual Authorpalooza conference from October 6th to 8th 2023. Anderson
will be doing the keynote speech for the event as well as a session on effective Kickstarter
campaigns during the main day of the conference. Additionally, he will be presenting a hands-on
workshop during the closing day of the event.

The Authorpalooza conference will be held in the Hilton Houston Plaza Medical Center Hotel
located at 6633 Travis Street in Houston, Texas. The event will begin on Friday evening with a
session on helping build an author platform and the launch of the contest anthology collection
published by the Houston Writers Guild in collaboration with Women in the Visual and Literary
Arts as well as a local publishing house, Inklings Publishing. Saturday will be the main day with
numerous presentations and break-out options as well as agent and editor one-on-one session
opportunities. The event closes on Sunday with Anderson’s workshop.


Kevin J Anderson has published more than 175 books, 58 of which have been national or
international bestsellers. He has written numerous novels in the Star Wars, X-Files, and Dune
universes, as well as a unique steampunk fantasy trilogy beginning with Clockwork Angels,
written with legendary rock drummer Neil Peart.

Anderson’s original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series, the Wake the Dragon, and Terra
Incognita fantasy trilogies, the Saga of Shadows trilogy, as well as his humorous horror series
featuring Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. He has edited numerous anthologies, written comics and
games, and the lyrics to two rock CDs. He is the director of the graduate program in publishing
at Western Colorado University. Anderson and his wife, Rebecca Moesta, are the publishers of
WordFire Press. His most recent novels are Clockwork Des>ny, Gods and Dragons, Dune: The
Lady of Caladan (with Brian Herbert), and Slushpile Memories: How NOT to Get Rejected.
The Guild looks forward to hearing Anderson share Ips for improving writing productivity as
well as effective Kickstarter campaigns for authors. His keynote speech will discuss the Popcorn
Theory of Success.
