After viewing the newest Avengers movies I have one thing I need to yell: No! It was a heartbreaking movie that needs a sequel within the next year. Why do you ask? Because if they do not then there will be an angry crowd, myself included, ready to storm down Marvel Studios. This movie will hit emotional parts of you that you did not know existed. You think it is a boom, boom, pow movie why would I cry? Well, be prepared for spoilers in this article because I am going to unload a world of hurt on your superhero life.
Here comes the first spoiler… Loki is no more! Within the first 10 to 15 minutes of the movie, you already lose one of the most popular characters of the MCU. To those who watch the news for any updates on the MCU already knew that this was going to happen because Tom Hiddleston announced that Thor: Ragnarok was going to be his last Thor movie, but the death was still not lessened. We will miss Loki the god of Mischief.
The next death will be Gamora, but to explain this I need to talk about Thanos. In this version of the classic villain, Marvel decided to give this evil creature a sympathetic perspective. In the movie, it shows a flashback of a young Gamora watching her people being slaughtered by Thanos and his “children”. You see him take an interest in the young child and decides to take her in as his own, and because of this situation, Gamora loses her life.
The end of the movie is the most emotional experience. Thanos has completed his mission of gathering all the infinity stones and now has the power to destroy the universe at the snap of his fingers *wink wink*. We lose quite a bit at this moment. Black Panther, Star-Lord, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Groot, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Bucky Barnes, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Drax, and Mantis all “die”, but there is a mystery to be solved.
Thanos is last seen on a planet watching a sunset and smiling while doing so. What does this mean for the future of the Avengers? The reason I ask this question? That is where the movie ends! The next thing you see after the end credit scene is a simple heartbreaking phrase. So small, yet so much emotion is felt: Thanos will be back. What does this mean!? What will happen next?
I am not a reader of the comics. I would love to, but time for me is limited. Watching the movies is easier with my busy schedule, but someday I will read them and understand why Marvel is doing what they’re doing with the movies. Until then I will sit, watch, and ponder what the writers are thinking when they decided who is to die and who is to live. Good One Marvel… You have broken our hearts.
