Blake Shelton has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in this year’s issue, and the reactions have been mostly negative. Everyone has been saying that actors Jason Momoa or Jeffrey Dean Morgan would have been better choices, but I think that this choice may be a blessing in disguise. With Shelton getting the title over some popular movie hunk, it may get women to start comparing the average man to someone like Blake, which is good for all of us guys who may not be pumping iron with every spare minute. There are several upsides to Blake Shelton’s new found title, and I would like to point out a few that people may not realize.
Who do you know that looks like this?
Stop and think for a moment about who you know that is in anywhere near as good of shape as Jason Momoa. I know that I couldn’t begin to name somebody that I’ve met in person who could even hold a candle to this specimen of a man, so why would I want every women in the world to expect me to look like him? Sexy isn’t all about muscle, it has to do with personality and style as well, so you have to look at that package as a whole. Perhaps Jason Momoa would still beat Blake Shelton in those regards, but looking at the statement People made by choosing Shelton, it makes the men who are more sexy on the inside look better in the minds of women. Maybe everyone should lower their expectations down to a Blake Shelton, and realize that they can be just as happy with someone like him as with a Jason Momoa.
A Smile is Sexier Than a Six-Pack
Shelton might not be in the best shape, and he might not be for everyone, but he’s always smiling. At the end of the day, being happy is sexy. Loving who you are is sexy. Women need to learn how to find a man like that, and look past the broody gym rats that aren’t looking for a meaningful relationship anyways. So ladies, the next time you see a man who may be a little pudgy and dresses a little strange, but has a smile on his face and greets everyone he sees, take a second look. This may be the man of your dreams, and all you have to do is start a conversation to find that out. Blake Shelton is that type of man, and he may signify a change in what the definition of sexy really is.
The Size of Your Stage Doesn’t Matter
The Voice is an extremely popular and successful show, don’t get me wrong, but Blake Shelton being on it doesn’t make him a movie star. Everyone knows Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa because they’re giant statues of men that are in every other movie you see, but no one gives the stars of TV the same credit. Obviously Shelton has a music career as well, but let’s be honest, that doesn’t help his case at all. However, choosing a music and TV star over another hugely popular action star makes a statement in itself. To me, this shows that you don’t have to be one of the cool kids to get the girl, you just have to do you. Don’t try to put on a facade to impress anybody. Just smile, make people laugh, let your individuality shine, and you can be as sexy as Blake Shelton!
