Con-a-riffic and the not so terrific

Although, conventions are normally known I’m bringing fans together, promoting nerd projects from Disney the superhero movies, find vendors to buy toys and comics from, and getting original work from famous and Not so famous artists their eyes are dark side to the convention business as well.

As examples we brought up on what can happen behind the scenes or at a convention situations will be described but to protect the people involved as well as the cons these incidents happened at both details will remain out of this article.

our first example is of a rider who has gone to several different conventions and hired page work from different artists. Usually commission’s between 2 to 5 pages per artist promising they are so we paid per page as well as credit and the graphic novel he is developing for a New Media venture. However, what he is actually been doing is promise in the contract with the artist wants to pay his are done he takes an invoice from the artist but doesn’t pay it. so far because he’s been able to keep a low profile and because he’s mostly picked Independent Artists don’t normally network with other artists, he had flown under the radar and it’s had approximately 15 to 20 pages of art done for him. however, his information and likeness of been shared on Facebook and other social media platforms To protect other artists from this con man.

Another example of what can happen at a con deals with an Austin Texas area convention lizza began only a few years ago. The first convention ran mostly on track however, issues that come up of how ethically things are being done by the staff. A convention organizer have recorded where one of the convention employees basically had a secret bid for positioning of Art and vendor tables rather than having those people go through the website or through coordinator. For those who don’t attend, core psychic conventions or at the corner of an aisle usually means larger space or a better chance to catch a buyer’s attention normally these tables are priced accordingly and sold on first-come-first-serve basis. But when an employee goes around the official process for these tables now it mean that a person just by paying a little bit more money not going to official channels as an unfair advantage and getting a corner table. so, if a new artist or Studio had signed on to get a corner table for better promotion on the website and this person came along later and for an extra 20 bucks or so allowed a larger publisher for motor to take that table and rearrange the previously purchased table behind that artist back that would indeed be illegal , and that’s exactly the situation that happened here.

They’re also been situations where a vendor has Apple sold a collectible item or comic book 2 the public. For example you have someone there ran to a copy of giant size X-Men number 1, which of the first appearance of storm and Wolverine as part of the X-Men team for $250 now the person has bagged the book and put a receipt with a boat because it’s been paid for by someone and is left there for safekeeping which has been a normal Practice Act convention For a few years now. however that same dealer to turn around Andre Sills at book for $125 and give it to the second person so he’s collected money twice that book but and sold it twice give to someone who would take it off his hands right away.

Board be sure and that you are up and up and with a vendor’s the Arts and everyone else and make sure that you don’t get yourself in a situation it would be considered off color. And if you’re someone who is part of convention staff but see shows on please understand that the fans come there to be taken care of not to be taken advantage of.
