Sersi: Rashida Jones
There has been a lot of speculation as to what the future of the MCU holds after the highly anticipated Avengers 4, but it seems that one unlikely project has been confirmed. Marvel is planning a movie centering around The Eternals, a race of humans with godlike powers given to them by the Celestials in ancient times. While details of this film are scarce, it’s been confirmed that the main character of the movie will be Sersi, and I think I have a guess on who else may be in the film, as well as who should play them.
The movie is set to center around Sersi, an Eternal who has focused her abilities into illusions and magic like abilities, making herself appear to be a sorcerer. Casting Rashida Jones in this role could work out extremely well, because not only has she done serious drama work as well as extensive comedy roles, she looks almost exactly like the character. Marvel takes pride in casting actors that look exactly like their characters, and with that being the case, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jones got the role based on her likeness to Sersi alone.
Starfox: Patrick Wilson
I feel like Patrick Wilson is the perfect person to play the estranged brother of Thanos based on the fact that he regrettably missed out on his first chance at a Marvel role, and I truly feel that he can bring the unrelenting charm of Starfox to life. Put quite simply, Starfox is a player, and I think that Patrick Wilson is perfect to play a hero that is more of a comic relief than a serious crime fighter. Not to mention Wilson looks like the character to a tee, and with a wig to get his classic hairstyle down pat, he could practically be Starfox ripped right off the page.
Ikaris: Liam Hemsworth
Ikaris is bound to be portrayed as one of the most powerful Eternals in the movie, and an actor with a lot of popularity and even more muscles would be required for the role. Liam Hemsworth not only looks the part but is likely to join the MCU sometime in the future with both Chris and Luke Hemsworth already getting roles in the universe. Ikaris may not have any interaction with Thor, but I feel like Hemsworth could do the role the most justice, and he could be a valuable addition to the cast of this movie.
The Forgotten One: Taylor Kitsch
The Forgotten One is not only a completely jacked superbeing with the ability to shoot lasers out of his eyes, but he actually shares somewhat of a resemblance with Taylor Kitsch. Kitsch’s signature long hair is very similar to the likes of The Forgotten One, and he is always in excellent shape. While his first superhero outing as Gambit didn’t go over well, Kitsch could get a second chance in the MCU and could give us a powerful character that we will remember long after the movie comes out.
Thena: Gwendoline Christie
Thena, above all else, is an intense warrior woman, and I don’t think anyone fits that description better than Gwendoline Christie. While it may be similar to her role in Game of Thrones, one major difference is the fact that Thena takes pride in her beauty, and that’s a type of character that Christie hasn’t gotten a chance to play yet. She’s already apart of some of the most popular universes to date, so it’s only a matter of time for Christie to take a Marvel role like Thena.
Makkari: Rupert Grint
Makkari is the fastest of The Eternals, resembling the likes of the Roman god Mercury, but the one aspect of the character that stands out the most is his red hair. Whenever I think about younger actors with red hair, no one comes to my mind more than former Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, and I think that he could pull off the look for the character perfectly. While Grint hasn’t done much lately, I feel like he has enough range to play a hotshot superhero, and I feel like he is already the favorite to play the role if Makkari is going to be in the movie.
Ultimus: John Cena
Ultimus is one of the only villains exclusive to The Eternals, and I can almost guarantee that he will be the antagonist of the film. With that being said, you need an extremely muscular and intimidating actor to play a figure as large as Ultimus, and I think John Cena may actually be able to pull that off. While Cena is mostly doing comedic roles, I wouldn’t be surprised if he followed in the footsteps of Dave Bautista and becomes the center of attention for this particular movie, and he could actually make a name for himself as more of an action star as opposed to a mediocre comic relief.
