Fancasting The Shadowpact for ‘Justice League Dark’

While Justice League Dark is a movie that has been in the works for years at DC Comics, it seems like we’re closer than ever to seeing the film come to fruition, and it appears that we’re slowly starting to information leak out about the project. Aside from the casting rumors we’ve been hearing for years, recent reports have suggested that the film will feature a cameo from The Shadowpact, a team of dark heroes akin to that of Justice League Dark. If these reports are to be believed, we’ll see cameos from Doctor Fate, Detective Chimp, Black Orchid, Pandara and Phantom Strange, a handful of characters that we may actually see in future films. While they may only cameo in this film, you still need the right actor to play each character in case they are used in a larger capacity later in the DCEU, and I think I have an idea of who is right for the job.

Doctor Fate: Matt Damonhttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/DnipKK9T

Doctor Fate would undoubtedly be the leader and most likely member to get his own movie out of this incarnation of the Shadowpact, meaning that he would need an actor that could play him in a feature film. Matt Damon could be the perfect person for this scenario, considering that he’s wanted to appear alongside his friend Ben Affleck in a DC movie for quite some time, and he’s a popular enough actor that fans would be ecstatic to see him join the Justice League. Damon has been making cameos like crazy lately (in two other superhero films mind you), and I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed on to do another one in the hopes that it evolves into his own solo movie.

Detective Chimp: Patrick Stewarthttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/OaMs3KH2

While Detective Chimp is a little too obscure of a character to appear in more than just a cameo, that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most out of his big screen debut. For those of you who don’t know, Detective Chimp is a quaint, extremely smart British monkey that solves crimes and has a bit of a drinking problem, and I don’t think anyone is more perfect to portray that than Patrick Stewart. Stewart has one of the most iconic and recognizable voices of our modern generation, and I think it would be a cool little Easter egg to get a laugh out of the hardcore comic book fans.

Black Orchid: Sofia Boutellahttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/JVjBHSdF

While Doctor Fate is the most likely to get his own film, Black Orchid is the most likely to join the Justice League Dark team if there is ever a sequel, meaning they would need an actress who can actually do the role justice. Sofia Boutella is one of the fastest rising action stars in the world right now, and casting her as Black Orchid would only be good for all parties involved. She has somewhat of a resemblance to the character, and when it comes to actual star power and experience in action roles, I don’t think anyone else is more cut out for the role.

Pandora: Sarah Paulsonhttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/HJKgRyLt

Much like Black Orchid, it’s likely for Pandora to join the Justice League Dark, and it’s important to have an excellent actress play such a strong female character. I feel like not only could Sarah Paulson look excellent in the role, but she’s a popular actress that a lot of people would recognize and get excited over, and everyone knows that she would make a badass superhero. While Pandora isn’t really the most popular character in the DC Universe, Paulson could absolutely make her that, and her casting could be what makes the studio want to use Pandora more in the future.

Phantom Stranger: James Spaderhttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/4rCMUw8u

My main selling point for casting James Spader as Phantom Stranger is the fact that he looks almost exactly like the character. The resemblance is uncanny, and I honestly can’t see anyone else in this role. Whether or not he’s only doing a one time cameo, in order to have this character executed correctly, it pretty much has to be James Spader in the part.

What do you think? Who should play The Shadowpact in Justice League Dark? Let me know in the comments!
