From Acting To Cons To Booster Gold: An Interview With Tommy Walker

Tommy Walker has had some interesting roles so far in his career. Acting in movies and TV shows in roles as diverse as one of Wilson Fisk’s associates in The Netflix series Daredevil, to a supervillain on Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger, Tommy has quite a ways from his start in Philadelphia.

I was given a great opportunity to conduct an interview with Mister Walker and got to know the actor I had liked him in the roles I had seen him perform in and came to like him as a person as well.

Besides Drex on Henry Danger, what may be your weirdest role so far?

I haven’t had too many “weird” roles… But I have a fairly strange role upcoming as a chauffeur stuck in some kind of repetitive purgatory in the new Horror Short Film “The Empty House” (Coming Soon). I also played a punk singer in the movie “Bomb City” (Available Now everywhere) in which you wouldn’t even recognize me.

Who inspired you to become an actor?

I’ve wanted to be an actor since I was a young teen. I think Stallone would be my first inspiration as Rocky. It’s one of the purest performances in film

Besides acting, do you have any plans to work behind the camera in some way?

I’ve been producing projects along with acting for the last year now. It’s extremely challenging but I’m already seeing some success there.

How did you become involved with Primal, your new film with Nicolas Cage?

I’ve been involved with Primal for almost 8 months prior to us filming. It had many incarnations and finally, the perfect storm occurred and it got made! It was one of those things where you meet the right people and make great connections and keep nurturing that. They thought I was right for the part and luckily it happened.

Are there any genres of film you would like to do? Are there some you avoid?

I want to play Booster Gold (DC Comics) amongst many other superhero/villain/comic book and sci-fi based characters. But  I love working as an actor, bottom line. I try to keep as open as possible. I’m also a bit of a chameleon so it’s extra fun for me to keep my range varied.

From the series, Unforgettable.

Do you have a favorite or really odd con experience you can share?

I’ve had plenty of odd Comic-Con experiences!! I’ve been asked to kiss people at my table. I’ve heard deeply personal stories that people generally don’t share upon meeting a new person…Now, don’t get me wrong I love to hear stories from my fans. I listen and try to give them as much time as I can… But sometimes people can overshare. It can get really awkward.

One of my favorite Comic-Con experiences was in Las Vegas in December 2016. I got to visit some ill children at a local hospital. It was so fun seeing their faces when “Drex” from ‘Henry Danger’ paid them a visit!

I also loved being at Rhode Island Comic Con. It started terrible… Initially, it was lonely, I couldn’t really connect with anyone. I started to think I shouldn’t be there. Then out of nowhere, the floodgates opened and I was busier than I’ve ever been. Made a lot of friends at that show and had a great time all weekend.

After Henry Danger and Daredevil are there any other comic book themed properties you are interested in doing?

BOOSTER GOLD!!!!! I’m a big DC fan and I know a good few artists and creators from that company.  A lot of them know I want it bad and have told me I’d be perfect for it. There’s a slew of other great comic-based properties coming out soon. We live in a really cool time now where a lot of these great stories and characters are finally making it to the screen. Of course, I want to be a part of it!!
