The debut show for Fan Expo NOLA started off the only way a fan con in the Delta cold with a jazz band.
Also, a formal handoff from Wizard World to Fan Expo was given by representatives from both organizations. When Wizard World originally debuted in New Orleans in 2011, several of the Mardi Gras parade groups that were nerd-centric. To debut with a call back to the original demonstrated how they wanted to move forward.
The jazz band marched the fans to the show floor, and then made a run through the aisles of the convention.
Fan Expo is now the premier touring pop culture series of conventions in the country. Now, taking over from Wizard World, they will be bringing celebrities, artists, and vendors from all walks of nerdom to the fans. Fan Expo New Orleans brought such celebrities as William Shatner, John DeLancie, Javica DeLeslie, Micahel Rooker, and Theo Rossi to the fans. Among the artist that made appearances at Fan Expo are Michael Golden, Moustafa Mousa, and Guy Gilchrist. Taking place at the Ernest Morial Convention, this venue was the perfect transition from Wizard World to Fan Expo.
