Gold Key Groovy: Beloved Comic Publisher is Back

According to Wikipedia, the entry to Gold Key Comics starts like this:

“Gold Key Comics was originally an imprint of American company Western Publishing, created for comic books distributed to newsstands. Also known as Whitman Comics, Gold Key operated this way from 1962 to 1984.”

If you grew up during those years and were looking for the latest Happy Days or Disney-licensed comics Gold Key Comics was the place to go.

Along with original books such as Dr. Spektor, Dr. Solar, and Magnus, Robot Fighter, they showed other companies that their original content was also a force to be reckoned with.

However, in 1984, the company closed up shop , never to be heard from again.

That is until now.

Gold Key Comics is back, and they are starting off in a big, creepy, way.

During it’s heyday, Gold Key published Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery, a licensed book that told tales of mystery and horror. It was one of their more popular titles.

And, the new team helming the new era of Gold Key Comics has made it their first new release.

From their press release:
