Heavy Metal Heroics: Dark Nights Metal Comes to DCUO

In 2017 a gripping storyline invaded the DC Universe titles. That event called Dark Nights Metal, ran with the concept, “what if Bruce Wayne went completely insane had had the powers of the Justice League?”. In it, alternate versions of Batman having gained through evil and dark means powers of The Flash, Green Lantern, and other Justice League members.

It’s a world creepy and bizarre, and in the next episode from DC Universe Online, you’ll get a taste of that insanity.

The evil Batman/Flash hybrid called The Red Death is the first boss you have to fight in the intro solo mission for the new episode.

In the midst of an episode filled with influences from survival horror and zombies, there is unique storytelling that blends elements of the comic book and game versions of this eerie corner of the DC Universe.

Na,na,na,na,…uh-oh, these Batpersons you don’t want around.

A previous episode-based around Earth-3, where our heroes are evil opposites of themselves, introduced an area of Gotham City called the Tr-Corner yards, that was like an industrial shipyard area. The developers at DCUO have taken this map and expanded on it keep solo and group missions in that area freshly dark and vast.

One of the weekly solo missions is working for the Hal Jordan Green Lantern, the background should give an idea of how deep this particular area goes.

In this episode heroes and villains must team up due to the pandemic the infection of exotic and alien metals are having on the Earth. In fact, most of the missions deal with combating citizens, cops, and bad guys alike coated with a virus-like metal that gives a very zombie feel to several missions.

And to perpetuate the metal/spooky vibe, thee are strains of guitar-laden background themes as instances where heavy odds and claustrophobic spaces add to the tensions of the episode.

Yeah, the metalized zombies seem to never run out, even after to make your mission goals.

And much like the comic series, the mastermind behind it all is a fusion of The Joker and Batman, The Man Who Laughs. To give everyone idea of what was coming to a capsule or in-game treasure box previewed the all-out creepiness of the character.

This latest episode is the first of two parts and is available now. The second will be out in December 2019 Have fun and rock on DCUO.
