Thor’s Belt – Everything You Need To Know!

Despite some time passing since Spider-Man: Homecoming’s debut, fans everywhere are still buzzing about the film. With there being so much to say, it’s no surprise to hear of every moment being dissected for any clues of what’s in store for the future. And while that’s exactly what most people are doing, there’s one question in particular not many people are asking: how did Tony Stark get his hands on Thor’s magic belt?

If you don’t remember, the plane Happy Hogan was prepping during the final act of Homecoming wound up listing quite a few notable items on the plane’s manifest. Among the items listed, was something Happy referred to as “Thor’s Magic Belt”. No other details were given on the belt, but its comic origins provide us with a bit of insight into what Stark really has in his possession.

In the comics, Thor’s magic belt goes by the name of “Megingjord”. The belt doesn’t add much to Thor’s already impressive repertoire of abilities, but when Thor is wearing it, his strength increases tenfold. When he’s not in possession of the belt, it’s usually stored in Odin’s vault.

As for the MCU version, it’s unclear how Stark got a hold of it, but there’s bound to be an explanation given at a later time. Especially when we need to consider what Thor has to say about Stark having an Asgardian weapon in his inventory.

Now, the weapon may not be as useful as Thor’s hammer but whoever the wearer is, would possess strength equal to superhumans. That’s not to say everyone can wield it, but if anyone worthy enough can, then we should probably count on its current owner putting it to some use, which is Tony Stark. That is unless Thor asks for it back.

There’s no way to determine exactly what Stark will do with Thor’s belt in the future, but it’ll be intriguing to find out how he came into possession of it. Could Stark have found it on one of his solo missions as Iron Man? Or, could the belt have made its way into Stark’s inventory during one of the Avengers’ missions? Or, perhaps Thor plainly gave it to Stark for safekeeping? Either of these options seems plausible, but the most believable has to be Thor just giving his belt to Stark.

When we account for Asgardians being quite possessive of their artifacts, it doesn’t seem like Thor would allow Stark to hold onto one without a good reason. Unless Stark has kept the belt secreted from Thor’s knowledge, they probably worked out a deal to have Stark keep it safe until the right time. With that time being undetermined, it seems like the best time to break out Thor’s belt would be during Avengers: Infinity War.

Even though the Avengers are going to have help from the Guardians of the Galaxy, anything that can help them in their battle with Thanos could be useful. Hopefully, we get to see Tony Stark or Steve Rogers brandishing Thor’s magic belt. That way, at least a few of Earth’s mightiest heroes will be able to stand on somewhat equal ground with Thanos and his evil forces.
