Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with lobbyist, political consultant, and founder of The Da Vinci Group, Mark Smith, Mr. Smith has over twenty years of experience in government relations and in the private sector. He has extensive experience in telecommunications, information technology, law enforcement, intellectual property, health care, and privatization issues. Mr. Smith also specializes in areas of congressional relations, appropriations, and policy development.
Over the past twenty years, Mr. Smith has owned and managed The Da Vinci Group, Inc. a government relations and public affairs firm in Washington, DC. He enjoys relationships with several members of Congress, who seek his advice on an array of legislative and political issues. Mr. Smith’s close relationships with key staffers on both sides of the aisle also give Mr. Smith an advantage to understand all sides of important issues facing Congress and his client’s interests. Mr. Smith has had enormous success in legislative affairs, general consulting, and campaign fundraising on congressional campaigns with an 83% success record over the past decade (Info is taken from davincigroup.org/)
To call Mark Smith an expert in politics and polling would be an understatement, and he offered a rarely seen “Behind the curtain” view of politics and political polling.
Offering us an “Insiders View” of how he thinks the 2020 presidential election will turn out. Mr. Smith’s predictions are bold however Smith backs up his claims and theories with the scientific touch of an artist, one of the things I took away from this wonderful conversation was how Smith says that Americans want “A return to normal”, people want to return back to the normality of having low taxes, a good job to go to, economic freedom and security. They want certainty, they want to walk down their street and not fear being assaulted by muggers or protesters.
Mark Smith has predicted that Donald Trump will win reelection with an electoral count of 300-320 votes, and indeed after hearing Smith’s reasoning behind his prediction it is hard to disagree with him. He also spoke about how often national and even statewide polling is wrong, and it is one of the reasons why Trump’s 2020 victory may seem so unlikely to some because the polls are not giving the full picture. Smith explained in detail how he views daily tracking polls that focus in on districts and even counties and even let us know which polling organizations he likes to read.
Overall I hope you enjoy the conversation I had with Mark Smith as much as I did, he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to political polling and issues of importance. The full audio of our conversation can be found below. Enjoy listening!
