The Force is in question with Mark Hamill, beloved actor whose portrayal of Luke Skywalker set the bar for average guy-come- space hero for years since 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope.
The questions rise of course from Luke’s storyline from The Last Jedi, a course for many fans, and for Hamill himself, has brought about a lot of confusion, consternation, and criticism from old and new fans. It seems that the video is put together by someone who’s obviously angry with the way the movie went, however, this plotline is highly divisive. The issues those who have seen the movie have echoes the the concerns of Mr. Hamill, how can Luke Skywalker become such an angry, anti-Jedi recluse?
All corporations are evil and cynicism aside, as Ben Obi wan Kenobi, stated there’s another truth, from a certain point of view.
- The farm boy Jedi was told by his teachers to kill his father, after Obi wan and Yoda, both stated after Ben’s failure led to Anakin becoming Vader.
- That had already embedded doubt in his mind on teaching young Jedis.
- Also, from the prequels we saw that the Jedi were arrogant and borderline corrupt in their hubis towards others.
- Luke, probably learned that in studies and in his own weakness, almost fell as hard. He was able to stop himself from crossing a line, but forever saw himself as messed up as the pre-Empire Jedi.
Luke did redeem himself, and inspired Rey to be a Jedi, and as Luke told Kylo, he was not the last Jedi. We all know someone whose optimism and exuberant attitude seem unflappable, but hardships turn them bitter, heck, we may even be that person. But, if Luke Skywalker can come back from it, so can we.
