I wanted to take a few moments and give an update about the latest news regarding Jericho’s possible revival and the next installment of the graphic novel series. I know many of you have been frustrated by how many rumors and whispers there are going around about the show and would like some solid information. Well, I am happy to report that I have some solid information to give you all.
Jericho TV Revival
For the last number of years, we have had an endless parade of rumors about when and if Jericho would return. Back in September of 2016 the cast and crew of Jericho had a reunion BBQ for the 10th anniversary of the airing of the show on CBS. It was during that BBQ that Ashley Scott live-streamed some fun interviews with the cast and crew, during one of these live streams the word “Negotiation” was heard from what seemed to be Dan Shotz, what made this curious was that the word was edited out when the clip was uploaded to YouTube.
Something else to mention was that a Jericho fan attended WalkerStalker Con, they had the opportunity to speak with actor Lennie James (Morgan on TWD and Hawkins on Jericho) they asked him about Jericho and if the show would ever come back. James said that the cast were all extremely close and that a Jericho Revival had been discussed at the 10th Anniversary BBQ reunion, and that he would love for it to come back. He did also state that he was not sure if there was enough support for the show to return or not. This confirms what was heard over the live stream and subsequently edited out that negotiations were discussed. So the good news is that a Jericho revival was discussed by the cast and production crew as recently as late 2016.
A New Jericho Graphic Novel
I was recently informed that tentative negotiations between IDW and CBS for a possible standalone Jericho graphic novel are underway. Scott Dumbier (Editor of the Jericho Graphic novels) has proposed a new Jericho graphic novel to Dan Shotz the producer of Jericho. IDW the publisher responsible for Jericho said that there were not currently plans for a “Season 5” Graphic Novel but that they were planning on producing a standalone Jericho graphic novel. Scott Dumbier and IDW said that the new Jericho graphic novel if produced would not be released for a year or a year and a half. I am currently scheduling an interview with Mr. Dumbier to further discuss and get more solid information on the graphic novel.
CBS All Access
An interesting development from CBS, it has been confirmed by multiple individuals that CBS has removed Jericho from Netflix in Australia and Canada, this is coupled with the news that All access is rapidly expanding its international rollout. This is interesting news, as of now it is too early to speculate but this could be a significant development, seeing as Lennie James has confirmed that Jericho negotiations were discussed at the BBQ and that a new graphic novel has entered tentative negotiations.
Conclusion
This is all interesting news and it is good to hear that a new graphic novel is in the works and that the return of Jericho was discussed as early as late 2016. There is always hope to be had and the best way you can help bring Jericho back is to tell your friends and family to watch the shows on Paramount + and to let Paramount and CBS know you want more Jericho!
