Joker As Jesus Image Could Be Referencing This Bible Verse

Joker As Jesus

As the rollout to Zack Snyder’s Justice League kicks into high gear we are being treated to more and more images and clips of what to expect in the Superhero epic. Snyder has been dropping still images of Jared Leto as Joker, and the latest image is sure to offend and intrigue. The image depicts Joker with a crown of thrones and standing with arms upstretched, in a pose that is normally reserved for images and statues of Jesus Christ.

Now Snyder loves his Biblical imagery and one can see many parallels of Jesus and Superman in both Man of Steel and Batman V Superman. So it seems strange that Snyder who has been so focused on Clark Kent as a stand-in for Jesus would suddenly then choose Joker for that role? Let’s take a closer look and peel back the layers to reveal what could be an interesting twist on the Biblical symbology that Snyder loves so much.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is partially set in the “Knightmare Timeline” where Darkseid has taken over the earth, its very apocalyptic and has a “End Times” feel to it. In this timeline “God” aka Superman is absent and is either dead or turned by the antilife and is serving Darkseid, either way, “God” has not returned yet, and the world is experiencing chaos and the end of days.

In the Bible verse Matthew 24:5 Jesus says this when speaking of the end times.

“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many.

Now as I said before Snyder loves his Biblical imagery and since Joker shows up seemingly exclusively in the “Knightmare timeline” which is very apocalyptic in nature I predict the Joker as Christ image is related to the above verse, that Joker will see himself as a kind of false messiah saving the world from Darkseid. Remember this version of the Joker was a crime lord who ruled Gotham and had many followers. It would make sense that he would see himself as a kind of false messiah to Superman’s absent God.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League arrives on HBO Max on March 18th and all will then be revealed!
