Rick Astley debuts with chart topping new album.
British singer Rick Astley, Famous for his hit song Never Gonna Give You Up, has finally made his return to music. His album simply titled 50 has reached the pinnacle of the UK album chart.
His return to recording couldn’t have come in a more dramatic fashion. With his new release, Astley was able to beat out albums by British heavyweights Tom Odell and Paul McCartney. The singer’s albums came in second and third respectively. It was a close battle for top spot but 50 was able to narrowly outsell both Odell’s Wrong Crowd, and McCartney’s Pure McCartney.
Fans have been given an exercise in patience as Astley’s last album Promise was released in 2005. To find the last chart topper we are looking back a whopping 29 years. His first album, and last to top the charts, Never Gonna Give You Up was released in 1987.
