Severance Season 1 Review

Have you ever clocked into work and questioned why you were even working there? That became a routine occurrence for me this year while I was still working at my previous job. Why am I here? Is my hard work even amounting to anything? Those are the questions that constantly ran through my head during every shift, which are similarly the same kind of questions the main characters ask. Needless to say, I found Severance to be very relatable, because I had been going through an existential crisis of my own. I think that's part of the beauty of this show--it's just as much relatable as it's cerebral.

Avatar: The Way of Water Review

When Avatar first released in 2009, I wasn't completely sold on it. For a long time, I was one of those people who thought that no one cared about Avatar anymore. Sure, it was the highest grossing film of all time, but it couldn't possibly be relevant anymore, right? Well, I was feeble-minded back then and I didn't understand or care about cinema on the level that I do now.

Andor (2022) – Episodes 1-3 – Spoiler Review

The first three episodes of Andor were a refreshing change of pace (and scenery) for Star Wars. For starters, there is no sign of Tatooine and it likely will stay that way since the showrunner, Tony Gilroy, set out to tell a contained story, without relying on an overabundance of fan service.

Lightyear – 2001: A Simplistic Odyssey – Focal Point Review

Pixar's Lightyear, contains everything fans have come to know about this beloved character, with a twist. Buzz is no longer voiced by Tim Allen and instead is replaced with Avengers star, Chris Evans. The reason behind this decision was because this film isn't about the action figure from Toy Story, but rather it's about the movie that the toy was based on -- essentially a movie within a movie.

The Jurassic World franchise is known for dinosaurs; that’s what sets it apart from other blockbuster flicks. Fallen Kingdom ends with the perfect set up for Dominion. Dino’s reach the mainland and humanity must learn to survive and coexist with these prehistoric animals.

Halo Season 1 Review – A Mediocre Adaptation

Halo is a video game franchise that holds near and dear to my heart. When I first saw the announcement of a live-action series during E3 2013, my excitement levels reached to the stars. Legendary filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, was originally set to be the showrunner. With his longtime experience in the sci-fi and action genres, there was nothing more a Halo fan could ask for. Knowing that one of the greatest filmmakers was helming a live-action adaptation of a beloved gaming franchise was reassuring. Unfortunately, those plans did not last long, as the show went through many years of development hell. It seemed like the show was dead in the water, until Showtime and Paramount partnered to produce it. Nearly nine years later the “global hit” show released its first season, but at what cost? Was it worth finishing this fight?
