The Third Try for the First Family: Recasting the Fantastic Four for the MCU

A deal between Disney and Fox has been reached, and in doing so, that means that the Fantastic Four could be joining the MCU any day now. While Fox hasn’t had much success with making these movies in the past, Disney is a different animal entirely, and could make this team an integral part of their connected movie universe. One of the factors that makes all of Disney’s Marvel movies fantastic (pun intended) is the fact that every film has excellent casting, and we should expect more of the same from this new introduction into the blockbuster franchise.

Mr. Fantastic: Joseph Gordon-Levitthttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/26LBmcXg

JGL is a staple in modern Hollywood blockbusters, and he could be excellent in a team leader role. He has the long, slender build that goes along with a character like Reed Richards, and could pass as a younger version of the character. Having Gordon-Levitt headline the film could but a lot of additional interest in it, and make it the MCU’s next success story.

Invisible Woman: Alice Evehttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/crbbWT2g

Alice Eve might not be the most popular actress in the world, but she would be an excellent fit for the Invisible Woman. She looks like the character ripped straight out of the comics, and has proved in several film projects that she can hang with Hollywood elite when it comes to acting talent. Eve has the potential to blow the role out of the water, and could truly give us the best version of the character we’ve seen to date.

Human Torch: Dacre Montgomeryhttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/fnZhZmVN

Montgomery has become a huge star in recent years, doing commercially successful and critically acclaimed projects such as Power Rangers and Stranger Things, and it just so happens that he has everything someone could ask for in a Human Torch. He’s young, extremely good looking, can play arrogant bad boys like nobody’s business, and could make the best version of the character since our very own Chris Evans introduced him. Dacre could make a fine addition to Marvel’s First Family, and give us the finest Human Torch we could have ever imagined.

Thing: John Krasinskihttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/l8io8TaG

While most people think that John Krasinski would be a better Mr. Fantastic, my personal opinion is that he would make a better Ben Grimm. The Thing isn’t just a giant rock monster, before he got his “powers” he was a handsome, musclebound astronaut. I feel that Krasinski could not only make an excellent Ben Grimm, but could provide an intricate, yet lowbrow type of voice for The Thing.

Dr. Doom: Alexander Skarsgårdhttps://www.photojoiner.net/image/JdMJ3qXf

Skarsgård has gotten the chance to play action heroes in some of his most recent projects, but I believe where he really excels is in villainy. He’s a physically imposing man with a dark and mysterious demeanor about him, and having a Doctor Doom that is European could put an emphasis on him being the leader of Latveria, instead of being an Americanized version of the character. There is a massive amount of room left to have a crowd pleasing Doctor Doom with the two predecessors giving lackluster performances, and Skarsgård would certainly give a much better interpretation of the supervillain.

What do you think? Who should play the Fantastic Four in the MCU? Let me know at [email protected]!

  1. As much as I like JGL I will be so angry if john krasinski isn’t Mr Fantastic. And I hope his wife Emily Blunt (who was supposed to be black widow is invisible woman. It’d be perfect to me. Skarsgard is perfect though.

  2. I would have done the following recast: Oscar Isaac as Mr. Fantastic, Isla Fisher as Invisible Woman, Glenn Howerton as Human Torch, Michael Madsen as The Thing, and Rami Malek as Doctor Doom
