A classic and veteran actor known for the popular detective show Simon & Simon, Gerald McRaney has had hundreds of roles over the years and even won an Emmy last year for a stint on This is Us. However, it is the character of Barlow Connally from the western detective program Longmire is perhaps his most chilling role to date. A ruthless buessnesman who hates the protagonist Walt Longmire he is determined to stop him at all costs. At his core, Barlow Connally is evil going so far as to have Walts wife killed and even to kill his own son when he found out about it. In their final confrontation, Gerald McRaney does a masterful job of bringing the evil character to life and presents you with a compelling villain that will be remembered for a long while.

Darby Stanchfield: NCIS

Perhaps best known for her lead role in the hit show Scandal, Darby Stanchfield has had a long and sucessful career in television, one role that she played to acclaim was that of Shannon Gibbs in the worldwide hit show NCIS. Her character was instrumental in many ways as she played the deceased wife of lead Agent Leeroy Gibbs, her character and on screen, daughter both are murdered by a hitman. Their death in many ways frames just who Gibbs is as a person. Darby has appeared in just 7 episodes over the course of 16 seasons yet all her appearances have been of great importance for the growth of Agent Gibbs, and Darby has gone a great job in bringing the character to life and not just her own but also showing us just who Gibbs was before tragedy struck him.

Skeet Ulrich: Into the West

Skeet Ulrich has been around Hollywood for a long time, starring in films and TV shows since 1994. A role that is not as well remembered of his was in the Steven Spielberg produced mini-series Into the West. The series chronicled the major events of the old west and followed a family as they encounter historical figures over the years. It was very well made and a great historical adventure. Skeet played a character named Jethro Wheeler, brother to the main character, Jethro is a scheming individual who wants to make his fortune. He starts a career as a gold miner and seemingly finds his fortune in a massive gold nugget, only to die violently due to his greed. Despite only appearing in 3 episodes Skeet did a fine job bringing the complexity of the character to life and thus made his episodes memorable.

Lennie James: The Walking Dead

Lennie James is perhaps best known for his role in AMC’s The Walking Dead. Despite having a wonderful career before the show, James career was pushed to stardom by his role in the mega-hit. while the acting in the show is good throughout, the first pilot episode stands out as perhaps the finest episode in The Walking Dead and is one of the best pilots ever made for TV. The action, horror, and acting is all top-notch, Morgan plays a single father who teaches Rick how to survive in the new world. Near the end of the episode there is a heartwrenching scene, Morgans wife fell ill and turned into a Zombie and would return to her house in her zombified state. Morgan finally decides it is time to move on and put his wife down, we see him sobbing and crying as he looks at her through the scope of his rifle. It is heartbreaking and tragic as he tries but ultimately fails to kill her. Zombies were always thought of as “B” movie fare, but actors like Lennie James showed that no matter the story one could craft amazingly complex characters who make the audience feel.

Erik Knudsen: Continuum

Erik Knudsen has always been one of those “That Guy” actors you always see on TV but can’t remember the name to go with the face. He has been in a number of television and film roles, while most fondly remembered for his character in Jericho, one of his largest roles was in the hit sci-fi series Continuum. The show was about a future detective who travels back in time to fight finds terrorists who escaped her, Erik Knudsen plays a genius who helps her in her mission, what made the role interesting was that due to the show having several timelines Erik needed to play a few different versions of himself, both good and bad. It showed his range of acting as he was able to play a character who was good then switch to a maniacal one. If you have not seen Continuum check it out!
