Top Five Doctor Who Season 10 Expectations!

If you are a Whovian (Doctor Who fan) like me then you are ecstatic for Doctor Who season 10 that will be airing next year. I am a huge fan of Peter Capaldi and his interpretation of the Doctor. I don’t think people appreciate him much because he no longer has that child-like spirit like Ten or Eleven, but if you really think about it The Doctor is merely beginning to show his true age. He has seen too much and it is starting to wear on him, but that does not mean that we should not look forward to more adventures from our favorite time travelling alien. I am here to list five things to look forward to in the next season of Doctor Who. Allonsy!

5: No More Clara!

Clara is no more! We now have new blood on the show. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jenna Coleman she is a great actress, but her time with the Doctor should have ended back with Matt Smith. Her character development ended when she was revealed to be the woman to save the Doctor. When Peter Capaldi came into the picture they should have retired her, but now that Clara is gone we can move on to, hopefully, a better character development. Pearl Mackie will be joining the crew as Bill. Just the short clip with her and the Doctor looked promising, but we will see.

4: New Writers and New Directors!

Now only a few writers are set in stone for season 10. Such as Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, but new writers have voiced their excitement to write and Moffat has been quoted, “…we’ve had meetings today with two writers who’ve never written Doctor Who before. If I told you their names, your brain would explode … brilliant, prominent and amazing writers.” So this is going to be a very exciting new season for sure.

With directors it has been confirmed that Lawrence Gough will direct the first block while Bill Anderson will direct the second. Moffat has even been discussing with Peter Jackson about directing, but that is still on the rocks.

3: The Sonic Screwdriver Returns…?

To those of you who were not a fan of the Sonic Sunglasses, *raises hand* we may still have a problem. Steven Moffat, the man we love to hate, has been quoted, “I’m sure the screwdriver will show up again someday…Sometimes you have to be heretical. Sometimes you actually have to embrace the heresy. And I just thought, really, on a whim, why would The Doctor feel wedded to a screwdriver? Also it maybe resurrected the original joke which we’ve sort of slightly forgotten, that the screwdriver was just a screwdriver that made a noise.”

But Moffat! We love the Screwdriver!!

2: One More Year with Peter Capaldi

We most definitely have one more year with Mr. Capaldi as the Doctor, but after that we are uncertain. When it was revealed that Moffat would be leaving as the showrunner after season 10, Peter Capaldi also commented, “This could be my final year.” The new showrunner after season 10 will be Chris Chibnall, who is best known for his work on Broadchurch, which stars David Tennant.

Peter Capaldi wants to finish at least three years as the Doctor so that storylines can be wrapped up and loose ends can be tied. I am very sad to see him go if he does leave, but that means a new mystery if he does. Who will be the next Doctor?

1: What Mischief Will Happen This Season?

Instead of me telling you it is better for me to quote the actors on who and what they would like to see in this next season…

Pearl Mackie: “I’m not sure it will ever become ‘the norm’ seeing crazy monsters on set, but I cannot wait to meet some more! The weirder the better, bring it on!”

Peter Capaldi: “Well, [I’d like to visit] Mondas, obviously, as you know. I’d like to back to Vortis, let’s see what the Zarbi and Menoptra look like if we could spend the money they didn’t have. I’d like to see how the Axons are getting on. I’d like to go and see the moon landing from the moon.”

Peter Capaldi: “I’d like to see the Daemons [return]… I’d like the Axons to come back [and] I’d like to have a go at the Autons…”

Another great tidbit… We may see Missy again this season! I personally love Missy and cannot wait to see what is in store for her and the Doctor!
