The Truth is out there! Will you find it?

If you are a fan who can’t get enough of The X-Files or simply enjoy its twisty and fun stories, then the newest mobile game from Creative Mobile may be for you! The mobile game takes place in the X-Files universe and is entitled The X-Files: Deep State the game is listed as a hidden objects game, however, it is far more than that and includes many different types of game styles.

As said before The X-Files: Deep State is set in the greater universe of the X-Files and features characters from the hit TV show. The game takes place after the end of the original shows run and drops the player into the shoes of a rookie FBI Agent, the player is paired with a partner by the name of Agent Dale who acts as a conduit of information to inform the player of the rules of the universe.

The game employs a system that uses energy and timed tasks that feels familiar to anyone who has played a mobile game. The game does employ microtransactions however they are not game breaking and a player can enjoy the content without needing to pay anything. The transactions simply speed things up and allow for one to finish some tasks quicker then it would normally take.

The games art style is very cool and retro, it feels at once familiar and new. The deep color and comic book style allow for the game to showcase the gore the show is known for while not being very horrifying. The investigations are very fun and don’t just rely on the hidden objects to finish. The investigations are laid out with conversations between the player and Agent Dale, one can also question witnesses, and even engage in gunfights. The hidden object portion is cleverly inserted into the game as the crime scenes, where the player locates clues that are hidden in the landscape.

The game is very addictive as it rewards the players for finding the clues which move each story forward. Once a player has unlocked a crime scene by finding the objects you have the option of further investigating it by finding other hidden clues. As one keeps investigating the scene and finding clues the game gets harder and makes it harder to find clues. All and all it keeps the player on their toes, the game did a good job of making it feel like the show. The story cases are creepy, scary and sometimes gory, I really felt like I was playing through an X-Files TV episode, this was what made the game so fun in the end.

For being a mobile game, the gameplay is decently long, each case takes about one hour to finish and currently, there are five cases with more to come as per the developer. The game is very good yet there are a few small bugs, occasionally the game will freeze and require a restart, plus there are a few lines of dialogue that are misspelled, however, these are minor issues that are overshadowed by the games immersive atmosphere. The X-Files: Deep State is a fun and breezy game that is perfect to play when on break at work or when in transit, it will provide an enjoyable experience for those who are fans of The X-Files or just getting acquainted with the world. The truth is out there!

4/5 stars!
