10 Actors Who Could Play Batman In The Brave and the Bold In The DCU

James Gunn and Batman for The Brave and the Bold

James Gunn has said that Batman will play a large role in his reboot of the DCEU known as the DCU, we know that a Batman film titled The Brave and the Bold, this new universe will focus on younger heroes. Batman is one of the most beloved and recognized characters of all time, which means that the perfect actor is required for the role, and I think I have a few good fits picked out.

1. Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles has been a part of the “Batman Family” for some time having voiced him in a few animated films, including Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Under The Red hood. He is finished filming his very popular TV show, Supernatural, and is young enough to play Batman in his less formative years. Plus he is in great shape and brings a HUGE fan base with him from his role in The Boys.

2. Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has already played his fair share of superheroes at only 28 years old, but I think that he would accept another role if it were as popular as Batman. While he may not have the classic Bruce Wayne look, Taylor-Johnson is still an extremely handsome and seasoned action star, and I think that he has potential as an inexperienced crime fighter. He hasn’t played a character as dark and tortured as Batman in his career, but I think that he could shine if given the chance, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he lives up to the likes of Christian Bale.

3. Dylan O’Brien

Dylan O’Brien is one of the most promising young stars in Hollywood, and I wouldn’t be surprised if DC considered him a serious contender for a younger Batman. He has the usual look associated with Bruce Wayne, as well as being able to pull off the dark demeanor of Batman. At only 27 years old, he has already starred in several of his own movies, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he donned the cowl sooner or later.

4. Robbie Amell

While Robbie Amell is more of a TV star, I think that he has a lot of potential in both his career and the role of Batman. You may recognize Amell from his time on The Flash and The X-Files, the former of which showing he has what it takes to play a darker superhero. He is certainly in good physical condition for the role, and if given the opportunity, I know that he would dedicate himself tirelessly to becoming Batman.

5. John Krasinski

John Krasinski is reportedly being considered for the role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman, and while I have never really considered him a true action star, I actually love this idea. Krasinski has recently made a name for himself as a serious actor, with roles in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place, but he also still has the personality of a comedian.

Standing at 6’3″, Krasinski can look quite imposing in the Bat-suit, but at the same time he could chanel Jim Halpert for his Bruce Wayne facade. While he may already be 38 years old, he can still pass for a much younger man, and perhaps he could take over the character permanently if Ben Affleck decides against coming back.

6. Alden Ehrenreich

It may be a little ironic to suggest that young Han Solo should play young Batman, but I think he could be a good fit for the character. Ehrenreich proved that he has a lot of potential as an action star, and while he got some flack for his performance in Solo: A Star Wars Story, I truly think that he could have done better with a different script. The only discrepancy between Ehrenreich and Bruce Wayne is that Alden is only 5’9″, yet that can be overlooked since this is a younger version of the character, and I could still fully believe that he evolves into Ben Affleck later in life.

7. Richard Madden

Richard Madden is a well-respected British actor known for his role in Game of Thrones, but he has been making headlines lately with his show Bodyguard. He is widely regarded as the favorite to take over as the next James Bond, yet I think he might be suited for Batman as well. He has the dashing good looks and a suitable frame for the crime fighter, and if he can accumulate an American accent, then I think he would be excellent as the Dark Knight.

8. Dacre Montgomery

It seems like Dacre Montgomery came out of nowhere, but it’s impossible to deny how popular he is now. After his roles in Power Rangers and Stranger Things, it seems like Montgomery is in high demand right now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is being considered for a young Bruce Wayne. He is not only extremely muscular, but he has a lot of range as an actor, and I think that he has potential to be the next great action star.

9. Nicholas Hoult

Nicholas Hoult often plays characters that are more brains than brawn, but you can’t forget about just how physically large he is. Hoult stands at 6’3″ tall, and has a body that would make a Greek god blush.

While he is more of a charismatic and intellectual actor, Bruce Wayne is still a detective at heart, and his brain power could come in handy for that aspect. I think that Hoult could accurately portray both the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and hardened crime fighter Batman perfectly, and I would love to see such a brilliant actor take the role.

10. Brett Dalton

EU

Brett Dalton is on the older end of the spectrum, but I think that he may be the perfect choice for the next Batman. Anyone who has seen Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. knows that Dalton is impeccable at playing dark characters, and has shown that intense darkness as both a hero and a villain.

He has the classic playboy look, and although he is already 35 years old, he can still pass for a much younger man. Dalton has been primarily a TV star at this point in his career, but it’s never too late to finally blow up, and he is certainly talented enough to do so.
