The internet has been going wild over the news of James Gunn’s new slate for Chapter One of the DCU. In this first chapter titled “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters,” we will have a brand new Batman movie titled “The Brave and the Bold.” Since this new Batman will exist alongside Matt Reeves’s “The Batman: Part II” many have wondered what this new DCU Batman will look like and who he will be inspired by.
Thankfully James Gunn has revealed that information in a tweet.
We’re talked a lot about Woman of Tomorrow, but these are more of the comics inspiring #DCStudios and the new #DCU in these early days. That doesn’t mean we’re adapting all these comics, but that the feel, the look, or the tone of them are touchstones for our team. Check ’em out!
It seems that the new DCU Batman will be inspired by Grant Morrisons’ run, which is a still grounded yet more colorful and flashy Batman. We may even get a blue cape and cowl! The good news is the DCU Batman will be very different from Matt Reeves’s version, so it will feel fresh and new and not like a retread.
