While the advent of the megacon is upon us, it’s good to see independent con ,like Eastern Rim thriving in 2026. A true comic book convention that leans heavily, not just on its community rootes, but somewhat of a return to when comic cons actually featured comic book writers, artist, editors, and the like at a show.
Eastern Rim has an epic lineup of legendary comics pros headlinining the show. Michael Golden, Renee Witterstaetter, Tim Bradstreet, Phil Hester, and Steve Leialoha will be guests.

Michael Golden A true titan of the industry, Michael Golden will be a centerpiece of this year’s Eastern Rim guest list. Renowned as a versatile writer, artist, and colorist, Golden’s dynamic style defined much of the late-1970s aesthetic at Marvel Comics. He is perhaps best known for his landmark runs on The Micronauts and the gritty, realistic war drama The ‘Nam, but his creative legacy extends even further as the co-creator of the iconic X-Men powerhouse Rogue and the cult-classic Bucky O’Hare. Fans and aspiring illustrators alike should not miss the chance to meet the man whose intricate linework famously influenced a generation of creators, including the legendary Arthur Adams.

Steve Leialoha Adding to the convention’s prestige is multi-award-winning artist Steve Leialoha. With a career spanning over five decades, Leialoha first rose to prominence in the 1970s and has since become one of the most respected pencillers and inkers in the medium. While his early work helped define Marvel staples like Spider-Woman, he has since earned widespread acclaim for his contributions to DC/Vertigo’s Fables. His masterful technique has not gone unnoticed by the industry; Leialoha is a recipient of the prestigious Inkpot Award and a four-time Eisner Award winner, making him a must-see guest for anyone who appreciates the fine art of comic book storytelling.

Renée Witterstaetter Rounding out this impressive lineup is the multi-talented Renée Witterstaetter, a powerhouse professional who has left her mark on the industry as a colorist, editor, producer, and writer. Witterstaetter has worked on nearly every heavy hitter in the comic pantheon, including The Avengers, Spider-Man, and Superman. She is most celebrated for her pivotal role as the editor of the groundbreaking Sensational She-Hulk alongside John Byrne—a run so influential that she was even featured as a fourth-wall-breaking character within the story itself. Beyond her editorial prowess, Renée continues to be a vital voice in the community through her writing and her popular blog, Witterstaetter Writes.
