Halo: The Master Chief Collection Will be Upgraded for Xbox One X in 2018

When the Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched in 2014, the game was met with criticism due to the troubles it encountered post launch. The anthology was riddled with bugs, some breaking its matchmaking, others seeing it hiccup, and throwing players into lobbies without their friends. It was even met with troubles regarding loading, saves, and content due to all the struggles it had encountered even with countless updates.

Within the first year, the game was met with several patches, most of them helping fix the games matchmaking issues, but not entirely. Even two years later, it seems that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection complaints had fallen on deaf ears when Microsoft and 343 Industries moved on to Halo 5: Guardians. The anthology itself has captured the hearts of Halo fans around the world as it allowed them to revisit a vast array of Halo titles in the list below.

  • Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
  • Halo 2: Anniversary
  • Halo 3
  • Halo 3: ODST (DLC)
  • Halo 4

While the list certainly isn’t short, it’s a list that still hasn’t seen itself fixed in many ways. It’s still struggling to capture the essence the originals had when they first launched on the Xbox and Xbox 360. All of this because a few little bugs that Microsoft has yet to squash. Luckily the upcoming update in 2018 could see the anthology will finally be getting a few enhancements to help improve the game.

Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn’t stated what the updates will involve, but they have said it’s coming, but not till an undisclosed time in 2018. Lets just hope it brings in features such as Halo: Reach so that fans can finally have them all in one place. You can check out Microsoft’s announcement here. The video includes a glance into the future of Halo 5: Guardians with a new content drop this November.

What do you think? Do you think it’s taken to long for Microsoft and 343 to finally fix the Master Chief Collection or do you think it’s right on time for the Xbox One X?
