News broke at San Diego Comic-Con this year that Legion creator Noah Hawley is working on making a Doctor Doom solo movie, and there have been some mixed feelings on such. Despite some negative backlash from fans, it seems that Fox and Marvel are still moving forward with giving the villain his own film, and therefore rebooting the universe. Hopefully, they can find a way to bring more people around to the idea, and one of the easiest methods to do that would be by casting an amazing actor in the role, in which I hope to provide some aid.

10Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac is one of the leading pioneers in the new generation of A-list actors and could give us the most comic-accurate Doctor Doom we’ve seen. Chances are that this movie will focus more on the political side of Doom, and the dapper, charismatic Isaac could excel in that area. If Fox wants to make sure this movie gets done right, it would behoove them to consider an actor as talented as Oscar Isaac for the role.

9Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal can play any role, and Doctor Doom is no exception. As far as imposing villains go, Gyllenhaal can certainly deliver that to Doctor Doom and could show how diverse of an actor he is by taking a role that’s not exactly what he’s used to. Having Jake headline the movie would make everyone keep a watchful eye on it, and could give the world a Doctor Doom that would make Stan Lee proud.

8Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of those actors that can do a little bit of everything, and people love seeing him in movies. He’s a fresh-faced A-list star and is adaptable enough to pull off the sinister Doctor Doom. Tying Gordon-Levitt to the role would certainly make fans buzz about the possibilities this movie may posses, and could give everyone the first real Doctor Doom.

7Michael C. Hall

Michael C. Hall is an excellent actor that has fallen off the map in recent years, but a movie like this could put him back in the limelight he hasn’t been in since Dexter. He can obviously play sinister villains that have a lighter side to them, and if Doctor Doom is having his own film, he can’t be the villain of his own story. Hall might not be the most famous person in the world, but he’s an extraordinary actor and could give the best performance we’ve seen in this role to date.

6Christian Bale

Christian Bale is possibly the most dedicated method actor to ever work in Hollywood, and that could make for an astounding supervillain. Anything Bale touches turns to gold, and a Doctor Doom movie would be no different. If he were to back in shape after playing Dick Cheney, we would certainly have nothing to fear with him at the wheel.

5Matt Bomer

Bomer has a dapper, mysterious persona about him, and that’s something he could translate over to a role like this. While he’s not exactly an A-list star, he has done some popular movies, and this could be his chance to headline a film with potentially great success. Everyone’s looking to break into the superhero genre, and this could be Bomer’s chance to join the select few who have made the leap.

4David Duchovny

Duchovny is one of the best and most adaptable actors of our time, and not a lot of people realize that because he’s been tied to one TV show for most of his life. While he may be a tad old for the role, he would be sure to give a more mature performance, and not necessarily focus on the superpowered parts of the movie. Casting David Duchovny as Doom could open up different possibilities for a possible Fantastic Four reboot, and could draw more actors of his caliber to such projects.

3Armie Hammer

Standing at a whopping 6’5″, Armie Hammer is an enormously imposing figure and could give Doctor Doom a screen presence like no other. In previous portrayals of the character, the audience never really felt a sense of threatening from the villain and casting such a large man could change that. Hammer has the acting chops to perform in any kind of action role, and if Doctor Doom were to have to get physical in his movie, he would be the best man for the job.

2Michael Fassbender

It doesn’t matter what kind of villain it is, if it’s a villain, Michael Fassbender can play it. This man can play insane and evil in so many different ways, while still appealing to the viewer, and that’s a skill that this film will absolutely require. With several flops making marks on his record as of late, this could be a chance for Fassbender to get back on a good foot and give everyone a much desired iconic villain.

1Luke Evans

Luke Evans and Doctor Doom seem like a match made in heaven. He’s dark, brooding, imposing, can play villains astoundingly well, the list goes on and on. Evans has had a few blockbuster films hit the theatres lately, and even though they flew under the radar, casting him in this role would be sure to get everyone talking.
