Man Of Steel 2 May Still Happen According To DC Interview

One of the most requested and anticipated DC films is Man of Steel 2, while demand for the super sequel had cooled after the release of 2017’s Justice League, it was reignited when the SnyderCut of the film was released on HBO Max. Fans and critics alike saw all the potential of Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel and the hype for a Man of Steel 2 grew.

Henry Cavill has been very open about his desire to continue in the role, and even The Rock has said he wants a massive cinematic throwdown with The Man of Steel vs Black Adam. However, Warner Bros has claimed that Man of Steel 2 is not in active development, and have begun work on not one but two Black Superman properties, including a film produced by J.J Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, which has been met with nothing but ridicule from all quadrants, and a limited series from actor Micheal B. Jordan.

Now we have another layer to the puzzle, as Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer sat down with the Hollywood Reporter for a sprawling interview. It was during this interview that a very interesting fact was dropped by writer James Hibberd, who said this

“Henry Cavill and others have advocated for a direct sequel to Man of Steel. I’ve heard rumors a sequel may be in the works with Cavill on board (Warner Bros. says none is in development). Does it feel like there is still unfinished business with that story?”

David S. Goyer then replied to the question

“I think so. I’m not involved in it right now. I’ve heard the same rumors you’ve heard, but I’m not plugged into it. I’ve stepped away almost entirely from comic book-related projects other than Sandman, which I don’t really categorize as part of the normal DC universe.”

Now while this is far from any definitive confirmation, the fact that a ventral trades writer and a screenwriter both heard the same rumors, means this rumor has a lot more credence than the other dozen we hear every day. So it looks like we will have to wait and see for more concrete information, but until then let’s all hope that Man of Steel 2 is on the way!
