Is life just getting too literal to enjoy?
A man in Wichita, Kansas made his way to the bathroom in a local Home Depot as many of us do when we shop. But what most of us do not do, is inform people of just what we are going to do while in the bathroom! Strangely enough, this man told the people in the bathroom that they should leave by saying, “You all need to get out of here because I’m fixin’ to blow it up.” What the man was actually referring to was he was going to drop a load, lay a cable, or the joke “What do you call Clark Kent with diarrhea? Poop-erman!”
Well, one man in the bathroom did not think what the man said was funny. After finishing his business, he immediately made his way to the manager and told him what the man had said, implying that the man was going to blow up the bathroom literally with explosives, TNT, or a bomb! A store employee called 911 and was reported saying, “We just had a customer here made what may have been a bomb threat. He said, uh, somebody told me there’s a bomb in here and you need to leave the building. He said it three times.”
Wichita Police were summoned to the store around 12:15 p.m. Monday due to the threat of a bomb in the store. When the police arrived, an employee said he reported the comments to security. Later a store clerk who recognized the man as a store regular gave his name to police. The police did some investigating and learned the “bomb threat” came from a man in a bathroom stall telling others about his great and smelly need to use the restroom. When the police found the man, they warned him NOT to do that again, and home depot declined to press charges for the incident.
The local news affiliate contacted the man by phone, and he said, “I didn’t mean to cause alarm, but I was trying to be funny when I mentioned the poop-bomb to others.” He told the police he and another man laughed at his comment with the comedic understanding that he had a serious need to defecate, and he was attempting to give a humorous warning to the other people in the bathroom.
It would appear in the 2020 era of Covid-19 people have lost their sense of humor. We seem to have lost the lightheartedness of the past, too bad because I am sure this event caused some people a great amount of stress! We would do well to remember this:
Let’s keep it lighthearted, especially when in the bathroom!
