What is it like to live in a Pokemon Go Gym?
The Pokemon go craze has proven to be more popular than ever expected. This is great news for Nintendo (and owners of Nintendo stock), as well as for players of the game. The game has a social aspect where trainers are given the option to join one of three teams. Team Mystic, Team Valor, or Team Instinct. The trainers can also work together to battle rivals and take over Pokemon Go gym locations. The locations are typically based around the location of historic buildings and landmarks. This is a great move because its gets people more involved and interested in their community.
However, this isn’t great news for everyone. When Pokemon go went live one man found his residence had been turned into a Pokemon Go Gym overnight.
Living in an old church means many things. Today it means my house is a Pokémon Go gym. This should be fascinating.

Boone Sheridan, the real owner of the gym, has been quite active on twitter chronicling his new popularity.
I’ve officially stopped counting after easily 30+ people walking up and as many cars pulling up for a few minutes.

He brings up some valid questions regarding the legality of the issue. Does a company have the right to turn your home into a gathering spot for all players in your community? A game with such popularity could undoubtedly provide you with an unwanted amount of attention. For the record, Boon has taken kindly to his new visitors. He has posted pictures with some of his fans, and has mulled the idea of putting up signs or other decorations to welcome trainers. Might as well have some fun with it, right?
Just had an idea: lights in front of the church that change from Yellow to Blue to Red as gym ownership changes. Wonder if there's an API?

While the owner is moving along with a cheerful attitude, things aren’t always perfect. One problem is people who show around the clock to battle for the gym. Pokemon Go is available at anytime of the day, or night, and this means trainers will show up at all hours of the day. What would you do if cars pulled up in front of your driveway like this.
This is what I'm a little leery of. People pulled up, blocking my drive way as they sit on their phones. pic.twitter.com/WpRbilk6g6

To be honest, this is a unique situation that many people would love to be in. By many people we mean the Pokemon Go community. Hopefully Boon, a designer based in Massachusetts, will put the boost in Twitter fame to good use. Here’s hoping the cheerful attitude and comical twitter posts will keep on coming.
