It has been an amazing week and an even more incredible weekend for the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement. Started soon after the release of the 2017 DCEU film Justice League, the movement seeks to see the release of Director Zack Snyder’s original vision. The movement has seen the support of Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ben Affleck and Gal Gagot among other notable celebrities.
On the two year anniversary of the films release the organizers of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement planned a twitter extravaganza to show love and support for the Snyder Cut as well as its Director and cast. The original plan was to get 214k tweets and have the hashtag trend, the day started off to a good start, then the tidal wave happened. First Gal Gadot star of Wonder Woman posted her support for the Snyder Cut
Then a few hours later Batman actor Ben Affleck also tweeted his support, both of these statements set off a firestorm of tweets, hundreds of thousands poured in including tweets of support from dozens of celebrities. By the end of the day over 700k tweets had been sent out on Sunday and 1.1 million for the week, and the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut was trending worldwide at #1. Soon after Grace Randolph, a known Hollywood insider tweeted that her sources had confirmed that very early negotiations were happening or would soon happen for the release of the Snyder Cut.
