Zack Snyder’s Justice League Dominates Physical Media Sales

As the theme song for the show Star Trek: Enterprise would say “It’s been a long road, getting from there to here” the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement started in 2017 with a single tweet. Then a few dozen people in front of the Warner Bros, office and finally culminated in 1.5 million tweets and trending worldwide. The SnyderCut was released to critical and audience acclaim on HBO Max (and gained 300 million views in China), with a promise it would be released on Bluray and 4K at a later date.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released on DVD, Bluray, and 4K on September 7th, and flew off the shelves, with many people reporting going to 2 and 3 stories and finding it sold out everywhere! Indeed almost 2 weeks later I went and picked up my copy at my local Walmart only to find almost all the copies had been sold out (Luckily I was able to snag a 4K copy!). It was obvious that something special was happening.

According to MediaPlayNews Zack Snyder’s Justice League is absolutely dominating physical media sales, with Blu-ray Disc formats accounting for 75% of Zack Snyder’s Justice League first-week unit sales, and 38% of its total tally coming specifically from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. The so-called “Justice League Trilogy” boxset comprised of Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League No. 14 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League also holds 4 of the top 20 slots on Amazon’s “Top 100 movies and TV sales list” the incredible success of the Snydercut is underscored, even more, seeing as physical media sales have been shrinking more and more as streaming takes over. For a film to sell so well in a day and age when people are not buying Physical Media, shows just how loved this film is and how loved Zack Snyders vision has become.
