10 Actors Who Could Star as Aiden Pearce in a Watchdogs Movie

Watchdogs has become an iconic game series in a matter of a few years, and it seems to be taking the next step into legendary status by achieving its own feature film. This project has been kicked around for perhaps too long, but it has not been officially canceled, and would undoubtedly bring people to the box office to see what should be one of the rarely fantastic video game movies. With the protagonist of the first Watchdogs game being Aiden Pearce, it is likely that he will be the main character of the movie, so here are a few options as to who could bring the dangerous hacker to life.

1. Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is truly a jack of all trades. He can be funny, sarcastic, smart, unhinged, and is a veteran of just about every type of action movie there is. All of these aspects could be put on display in the role of Aiden Pearce, and Gyllenhaal could be the best fit for the character based on his physical appearance as well as his acting resume.

2. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has been a leading box office action star since the early 2000s, so adding him to any movie is bound to make it a success. Most video game movies will loosely follow the plot of the game, or even go as far as just using the characters in a brand new setting and story. Adding Tom Cruise into a film that takes place in the Watchdogs world, but at its heart is a fun, explosive action movie that could very well be the best way to execute this project.

3. Nathan Fillion

When it comes to actors that let their own personality shine through in every role, Nathan Fillion has to take the cake. He lets his sarcasm and happy-go-lucky existence become apart of every character, no matter how gritty they are. While he is not starring in any real blockbuster action movies, Fillion is still a name that everyone knows, and he could provide a lighter take on the notorious hacker Aiden Pearce.

4. Thomas Jane

Thomas Jane is most famous for being arguably the best actor to ever play the Punisher, but has only done bit parts since then. However, Jane’s talent for portraying characters who have a knack for revenge could be enough to land him the role. Pearce’s entire character arc revolves around him getting back at people, using computers, cars, and guns, which is something that Thomas Jane could bring to the screen perfectly.

5. Jim Caviezel

Jim Caviezel played John Reese for years on the hit CBS drama Person of Interest, who was essentially Aiden Pearce before Watchdogs even came out. Reese was someone who frequently worked with an AI computer to hack into phones and get inside buildings, while using gun expertise and hand-to-hand combat to neutralize threats. This describes Pearce to a tee, so putting Caviezel in the role would be a sure-fire way to create a good movie.

6. Charlie Cox

While Charlie Cox is known more for his portrayal of the vigilante superhero Daredevil, he could also fit well into the mold of a different type of anti-hero. Aiden Pearce uses stealth and slick combat skills to stay undetected during his missions, which is something that Cox was used to portraying in his former superhero role. He could possibly break into the mainstream of Hollywood films by starring in his own action movie, and could certainly do Aiden Pearce justice.

7. Joel Kinnaman

Suicide Squad may not have been the best movie ever made, but it certainly did provide a platform for Joel Kinnaman to display his acting skills as a gritty commando. Aiden Pearce is more of a rogue military type, but the skills used for Rick Flag may still be able to transfer over. Kinnaman is not the biggest leading man in the world, but his take on the character may be the best one fans could expect.

8. John Krasinski

John Krasinski has a wealth of experience playing characters who are both smart and dangerous, doing so most prominently in the role of Jack Ryan. Aiden Pearce may have killed more than a few people during the events of the first Watchdogs game, but it all also weighed heavily on his conscience, which is something that John Krasinski is able to embody with one simple facial expression. Adding a creative such as Krasinski to this project could provide not only an astounding main character, but possibly even a visionary director as well, if the studio were to hand over the reins to the brilliant mind behind A Quiet Place.

9. Jon Bernthal

Aiden Pearce is not only a genius hacker, but he also has serious combat skills as well. Players were able to engage in legitimate military-style gunfights in the first Watchdogs, and Pearce killed so many people that his family labeled him as a murderer during the main story. Former Punisher actor Jon Bernthal would be the perfect person to bring that aspect of Aiden Pearce to life, as well as reaching outside of his range to play a character who has some serious IQ points.

10. Oscar Isaac

As one of the hottest stars in the business after his run as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise, Oscar Isaac could choose to go anywhere with his career, including a starring role in what is bound to be a blockbuster film based off of a popular video game series. Isaac has starred in romance movies, sci-fi thrillers, and superhero movies, but has not had much success with action movies. This could be his chance to conquer yet another genre, and it would certainly make for a film that any gaming fan would want to see.
